The Bell Helicopter company presented its air taxi prototype at CES 2018
Helicopter company Bell Helicopter's futuristic air taxi concept was revealed during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2018), which takes place in Las Vegas (USA).
It is a prototype of its air taxi that it hopes to put into operation in alliance with Uber in mid-2020, where up to four people can travel. The concept is an "urban air taxi" that could one day be as popular as the passenger cars that travel on city streets.
Bell only exhibited a prototype of a virtual reality simulator. The company explained that the vehicle, which would take off and land vertically, will be able to transport people between two points on fixed routes.
Upon entering, an integrated control center is revealed where passengers can catch up on daily news, make a video call and share documents or files with other passengers. Or, passengers can easily disconnect to relax and enjoy the views below and around them.
He also stated that his will have a set of connectivity technologies such as Wi-Fi, artificial intelligence and wireless charging. The passenger will be able, for example, to make video calls, connect to the internet inside the vehicle and at the end of the trip see the time they saved if they had taken another means of transportation.
As a safety measure to avoid accidents, Bell is designing a "multiple failure" system, so that if one of them fails, others can activate. In addition, the company is also working to make the aircraft as quiet as possible.
